Rick and the Becky-nator are back with the seventh episode in their new series “The Shocking Kindness of Jesus.” It’s a series based on a new book Rick is working on: Snakes & Stones: Kindness Beyond Category. In this episode, we’ll explore the kindness of Jesus in the context of our wilderness experiences—the isolation and loneliness that is baked into our human DNA. When we are banished into a physical/emotional wilderness, we live under the duress of isolation. The abandonment we feel is so damaging to our psychology that it can metastasize into abuse. When our wilderness is forced, not chosen, what sort of leverage do we experience on our soul? We’ll dig deeper into John the Baptist’s story, and discover how the kindness of Jesus invades our isolation with His transforming presence.
