Rick and the Becky-nator are back with the second episode in our new series “The Shocking Kindness of Jesus.” It’s the theme of a new book Rick is working on: Snakes & Stones: The Shocking Kindness of Jesus. It’s based on the the sneaky little parable Jesus tells the crowd in Matthew 7: “You parents—if your children ask for a loaf of bread, do you give them a stone instead? Or if they ask for a fish, do you give them a snake? Of course not! So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him.” In this second episode of the series, we’ll explore the kindness of Jesus in the midst of our shame. Shame is not the same as guilt—when we’re captive to shame, we don’t simply make mistakes, we feel like we are a mistake. It’s a universal cancer, and is the most common act of healing in Jesus’ ministry. We can find freedom…
