We have a crazy, talented, FUN group of interns helping the Group Mission Trips team prepare for an amazing summer of life-change in 2017.
Meet the crew!
Adreayn Torrez – Supply Management & Logistics
Adreayn grew up keepin’ it weird in Austin, TX. She studied Applied Arts and Sciences at Texas State with concentrations in psychology, education, and mass communications. Her favorite memory from serving on GMT Summer Staff is working with the awesome program team in Wintersville, OH. There was a light show and turn tables. ‘Nuff said. She loves pineapple pizza and cookies, kayaking, and jamming on her guitar.
Chelsea Kendall – Marketing
A Colorado native, Chelsea adores the mountains and all the adventures they offer. She has been with the GMT team for a year now and loves to see the impact students have all over the world on our trips. With a degree in Music Education and three years’ experience teaching middle and high school band and choir, she is currently earning a Master of Music in Choral Conducting at Colorado State University. When she’s not singing or studying, you can usually find her eating tacos, rock climbing, or snuggling with her dog, Shortcake.
Chloe Heckaman – Project Management: Workcamp
From Kalamazoo, MI, Chloe graduated from Hope College in Michigan with a degree in Business Management. She participated in two Group Mission Trips as a high school student and absolutely loved every part of those crazy, faith-stretching, high junk food-consuming trips! Chloe loves to dance like a total freak and speak in goofy accents (‘ello gov’na!). No shame.
Hannah Thompson – Supply Management & Logistics
Hannah shares the same home as Group, the beautiful Loveland, CO. She studied Graphic Design at Colorado State University. Hannah is a lover of all things art, photography, adventure, and chocolate. She loves her dog Yuki and is passionate about her faith. She was a competitive cheerleader for 14 years, all through high school and college, and is now gladly retired.
Jill Peterson – Project Management: Workcamp
Jill is a recent college grad, fresh out of the University of Minnesota Duluth with a degree in Communication and Information Design. She served at a Group Workcamp in Red Lake, MN as a worship leader. While newer to the Group family, she adores what GMT has to offer and the kind of love they choose to douse hundreds of communities in each year. Some of her favorite things include queso, being outside, and digging through Lake Superior’s rocky shores to find agates and sea glass.
Trent Russell – Program Development
Trent was born and raised in Baldwin City, Kansas. He is finishing up a degree in Organizational Leadership from Fort Hays State University in Kansas. He had the privilege of serving on GMT Summer Staff for two summers with Week of Hope in Newark, NY and Manassas, VA. One of his fondest memories from those summers is reading bedtime stories to the participants. Trent loves playing guitar, thrift shopping, eating chips and queso, hiking, and bad puns.
Rachel Yoder – Marketing
From Clio, Michigan, Rachel went to Washington and Lee University and graduated with a degree in Business Administration and a minor in Studio Art (her version of a marketing degree). She served on GMT Summer Staff last year as a hospitality leader for Week of Hope in Vienna, VA. Her favorite things include reading, knitting, yoga, coffee, and Mexican food. She was a cheerleader for 15 years and is strangely good at making origami birds, even blindfolded!
Michaela Brause – Project Management: Week of Hope
Michaela comes from snowy Minnesota, and she bleeds Badger Red. On Wisconsin! Her heart is captured daily by the mountains, and she is always down for a spontaneous adventure. It brings her joy to be surrounded by great friends, great food, laughter and fresh coffee. She has a heart for ministry, for touching lives, making lasting impacts in communities and growing from others. After 11 years of experience with Group Mission Trips, she is thrilled to be continuing her journey as a Project Management Intern.
Kate MacRunnel – Staffing & Registration
Because of the bread[th] of her love for food, Kate has developed a love of equal caliber for running – she’ll be completing her second half marathon in Zion (the national park, not heaven) on April 1st! After graduating from Iowa State University with a BA in English: Literary Studies, she followed her two older brothers in moving to Colorado almost 2 ½ years ago, and she has been happily living (and eating and running) here ever since.
