This lesson has a PowerPoint. However, this lesson is just an outline of the PowerPoint.

Start by having a quick video game tournament. You can download an iPhone Wreck-It-Ralph game called Fix-It-Felix. Use this as your opening game. There is a back-up game if you cannot do the other. Have the students put in order from #10 to #1 the video games which sold the most in North America (this is per unit not how much total money it made). This list was adjusted to not add games which were packed in with a console (Ex: Super Mario Bros. was packed in with the original NES). The answers to the game:
10 – Modern Warfare 3
09 – Mario Kart DS
08 – Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
07 – Super Mario Bros. 3
06 – New Super Mario Bros. DS
05 – Super Mario Land
04 – The Sims
03 – Pokemon Red/Blue
02 – New Super Mario Bros. Wii
01 – Mario Kart Wii

Lead into the movie trailer by asking these questions and doing one activity:
What do you look for when playing a video game?
In your group come up with an idea for a video game
Be broad not specific
Who are the hero(s), villain(s), or teams
What is the goal/mission of the game
Give a brief start and end to the story
If creating a sports game, add new ideas
Why did you choose this particular type of game?
How did you decide on the hero, villain, or teams?
Do hero(s) and villain(s) get to choose their role in a video game? Explain.

Say:
We are going to watch the movie trailer for Wreck It Ralph, a movie dealing with video games. Listed below is a description of the movie from one of Disney’s websites.
What is this movie about?
Wreck-It Ralph (voice of Reilly) longs to be as beloved as his game’s perfect Good Guy, Fix-It Felix (voice of McBrayer). Problem is, nobody loves a Bad Guy. But they do love heroes… so when a modern, first-person shooter game arrives featuring tough-as-nails Sergeant Calhoun (voice of Lynch), Ralph sees it as his ticket to heroism and happiness. He sneaks into the game with a simple plan—win a medal—but soon wrecks everything, and accidently unleashes a deadly enemy that threatens every game in the arcade. Ralph’s only hope? Vanellope von Schweetz (voice of Silverman), a young troublemaking “glitch” from a candy-coated cart racing game who might just be the one to teach Ralph what it means to be a Good Guy. But will he realize he is good enough to become a hero before its “Game Over” for the entire arcade?

After the trailer ask these questions:
What do you think this movie is about?

Say: Ralph has a reputation of being a bad guy even though it is his job. Nobody in his video game likes him even though he has being doing his job for the last 30 years.
At a self help group meeting Ralph is told just because he is a bad guy does not mean he is a bad guy!
What do you think this statement means?
Can “bad guys” help being “bad guys”?
Is everyone “bad”?
If you had a reset button for life would you use it?

YOU CAN’T MESS WITH THE PROGRAM
Read Romans 3:9-12
Explain how Adam and Eve sinned and messed up God’s original plan. Then ask:
Since Adam and Eve “messed with the program” then according to this passage what power are we under?
Is anyone good?

WE CAN’T CHANGE WHO WE ARE
Read 2 Corinthians 5:17-19
Ask these questions:
How did God change the game?
What does reconcile mean?
Why do we need to be reconciled?
What is our new mission?

After these questions say:
We can’t change who we are but God can. God can turn us into new creations. Once changed followers of Christ see the world in a new way. Our value system and behavior should be changed through our encounter with Christ. When God changes us we are delivered from sin and led back into a proper relationship with God. This is reconciliation with God and comes only at God’s initiative.

FOR ANYONE WHO NEEDS A RESTART ON LIFE
Read Revelation 21:3-4
Ask:
In the end, how does God change the game again?
Physically visible and death is eliminated
No more tears, mourning, crying, or pain
Former things gone (Sin is gone)

FOR ANYONE WHO NEEDS A RESTART ON LIFE (2nd slide)
Read Revelation 21:5-6
Ask:
What does this restart on life cost us?
Free because Christ paid the cost
You have to thirst for it
Does this restart at life mean everything is perfect?
Leader note: We know life will never be perfect but explain here how having Christ makes life better.

After all questions say:
God changed the game once with Christ’s death. Christ will eventually return and the game will change again. Use this section to explain your views on this.
