General Ministry

Whew – today was exhausting. After a super weekend and a solid day off, I was refreshed and prepared to face the new week.

But the day after something great is always challenging. One moment you could set the world on fire with your passion and faithfulness, the next you’re wimpering in the corner wishing you could curl up in the loving arms of your mother. It seems like without fail a high high can be countered with a low low. I had both extremes today. And I’ve got a feeling I’m not alone – you feel unstoppable and the next minute you’re stopped. You feel untouchable and moments later you’re wounded.

But God is faithful even in these days. You must remember Who you serve and your calling. And with that, I’m going to gear up to get ready to face tomorrow.

See what happens when you are not an interim anymore??!! I am sure all moments were high, high as an interim :)

We all feel your pain. May your/our high highs be more plentiful than our low lows. Amen!

oh yeah…way to true…I am relieved to know that I am not the only one, but prayerfully stand by you so that today doesn’t continue the low low…God is faithful.

Josh I hear ya. That’s a lot like what I was feeling the other day and blogged about it. Matthew 11:28-30 kept popping into my mind though. Such a great thing that Jesus says for times like these.

“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me–watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” – Matthew 11:28-30 [The Message]

I just re-read the first (?) chapter or PDYM, and was struck by the idea of what we are called to be – followers of God – first. Hey, have you ever read that book?

By something great are you referring to weekend services or a 19000 gamerscore? I’m sure it was the services.

You weren’t alone … hope today is better.

  • Travis says:

This last week was a high high so I was trying to fight admitting today was a low, thanks for reminding us it’s okay because we serve Christ first.

  • Lisa says:

The last week has been a low low but after my Bible Study last night today is a medium high but this too shall pass! 😉

  • Lisa says:

Oh, and I better write my sermon since I have to preach in 3.5 hours and have been struggling with what God wants me to say for a week now. Leave it to a YP to procrastinate….we never do that!!!

  • Kyle says:

Usually, when I’m at a low, I hang out with students and it brings me up. Today was slightly different, though. I was feeling great, until at the end of the service I let something bug me that I shouldn’t have. I sometimes think ministry has made me bipolar.
