I love reading. I wish I had more time to read. Here’s what I am currently working on…all three are great books…and I would definitely to recommend all of them!
Women of the Gospel is a great devotional! I was hooked after the first chapter! First, it’s an easy devotional to follow. Second, it goes through all of the women in the gospels. (Hello, AWESOME!!) Third, it has quotes like this, “This new understanding of women in the life and teaching of Jesus had a liberating effect on women, and they responded with deep gratitude and loyalty as his disciples.” OR this one, “These accounts show women progressing in understanding and faith in Jesus as they learn to follow him. Because the role of women in the Christian community was hotely debated as John’s Gospel was written, the Gospel writer wanted to present women as models of the process of becoming disciples and bearing witness to the faith.”

Down We Go was recommended by a friend. It’s a easy read about what it means to follow Jesus in his wild ways while telling a story of a church plant. Kathy Escobar shares some great stories and insights about radical living. Here’s a great thought from her, “The Kingdom of God can easily seem like a dream. It’s this idea that feeds our imagination with visions of a world filled with justice and peace. It also feeds my desires for a better world, encouraging me to remain overly optimistic, a hopeful dreamer. If we buy into the words of Jesus, life is meant to be something better- something more whole.”

Bird by Bird is written by Anne Lamott- she’s one of my favorite writers and this book is about writing. She’s funny and really practical! I love it. If you want to feel inspired to write…read this book. “I heard a preacher say recently that hope is a revolutionary patience; let me add that so is being a writer.”

And, well, I am not reading this one…but just in case you forgot…I wrote a book:
