In my church youth group we discovered the need for a “game show buzzer” when playing games like Jeopardy or other quiz-type games. We used to use the old-fashioned method of raising your hand to answer a question but found that we couldn’t tell who raised their hand first. Then we tried the “grabbing an object” method of answering but students started wrestling each other for the object so clearly the little guys were disadvantaged. So, I developed this buzzer so there is no question who was first to buzz in!
It’s designed for 3 teams and has 3 different timer amounts (3 sec, 10 sec and 20 sec). All you have to do is set up a laptop and have one representative from each team be the buzzer-hitter. It’s even cooler if you have a wireless keyboard and/or can project it on the wall for all students to see.
What you need to run it: A computer with Flash Player installed. Most computers have it already but if not, you can download it FREE from http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer . If you’re on a Windows PC, use the gameshow_buzz_in.exe file. If you’re on mac, use the gameshow_buzz_in.app. If you’re not sure, use the gameshow_buzz_in.html but make sure the gameshow_buzz_in.swf file is in the same folder on your computer otherwise it won’t work.
If you find any bugs or have any questions, let me know at firstname.lastname@example.org (but I’m not responsible if your keyboard breaks!). Enjoy!
