Leadership
Matthew

While Kurt and Josh deserve their own FAQ pages, I’ve had people reach out to me with similar questions. What I think is at the root of these questions is an anxiety that drives each of us to be looking over the fence to see what the next person is doing. My encouragement this week is to help you realize that God created you for the role you’re in; with God you are the perfect fit for what you are doing.

You are good enough.
Whether you were hired, volunteered, or left the room at the wrong time during the church business meeting, you are in the spot you are in for a purpose. God made that purpose and has given you the means to accomplish that purpose.

You are not supposed to win.
Our programs and events will never measure up to the standard of success in this world. We are innately conditioned to peer over that fence to see what the next guy is doing; we are not called to do that. There is no better place to be than where God has placed you. Thank you for being there.

You are hyper-conquerors.
In Romans 8:37, Paul creates a word to describe who we are in Christ. The first part, huper, “more than,” and the second is nike, as in victorious, conqueror.

God designed you to completely fulfill his purpose for your life. Worrying about a different patch of land than the one God gave you will only discourage you from being the person called and gifted for the role that you are in now. Embrace confidence.

Therefore, go into this weekend with your head held high.
… let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
-Hebrews 12:1-2

My simple prayer for you.
Lord, I pray for those reading this article, who are tired and worn out. Whose last spiritual high has waned, and who are struggling for answers. Show up and remind them in tangible ways who you have called them to be—that they are good enough, and there is nothing that anyone else can do to change that. Amen.
