Worship - The Whole of Me Responding

by Corey Gibson on 07/04/2010

“Worship is obedience, sacrifice and connecting to God in its core. The authentic songs, creative art, passionate dancing, etc. are just merely an outward act of what is going on inside one’s heart. The very heartbeat of worship must be about Jesus, for nothing else matters. He must be the focus and the reason. It’s a lifestyle set apart or dedicated to God. Coupled with Prayer, it is the center of this awakening and revival for this generation and the church."

Youth Pastors in the Pulpit

by Alvin Lingenfelter on 03/02/2010

Typically, it’s from a couch, behind a music stand, in the middle of a home renovation, at a restaurant or around a campfire. The youth pastor’s pulpit can and has been anywhere and everywhere. If youth frequent a location or have established a comfortable spot to be open and trusting…well, that’s where we’ll worship. This is part of our calling as those who genuinely care for students and also part of our package of gifts as their leaders.

Youth Pastors in the Pulpit

We have the skills to create a worship format and homily in the most extreme contexts imaginable, except it seems for one particually scary and foreign space....the pulpit.

Always + Already

by Jim Kast-Keat on 08/27/2009

In a noisy room the quiet yet persistant ticking of a clock is easily drowned out. But as the layers of noise disipate and silence/stillness emerges, the persistant and ever-present sound becomes more and more noticeable. it never changes. All that changes is my ability to hear it.

SMALL-CHURCH YOUTH MINISTRY: Big Worship

by Stephanie Caro on 03/11/2009

Experiencing meaningful worship with a small youth group can be hard. Unless one of your teenagers is a future Chris Tomlin, the whole worship thing can feel awkward.

a word of encouragement:

The gospels show Christ’s humility. He created this world and came down from heaven’s glory for us. From his birth to his death, he was a servant. He even washed His disciples feet. What a beautiful picture of servanthood to follow. Please understand that as you are behind worship, you are serving Christ

Using iTunes in Worship

by Matt Robertson on 09/11/2008
I guarantee the next time you venture out, you will be able to spot white earbuds on someone. You know the kind I’m talking about, Apples standard earbud for the entire iPod line. From the dentist to the mall, the gym to the office, everyone seems to have them. Have you ever stopped to think how iTunes could improve your worship service? Thats right! I said, “iTunes can improve your worship service.”

Worship Is...

by Jim Kast-Keat on 08/12/2008
A chord would be struck and masses of people would immediately strike the picturesque ‘worship pose’. (You know the one – legs shoulder length apart, eyes closed, arms raised at least above your waist, and a painful look of agony on your face.) This thing that I had been so deeply moved by, this thing that I had studied and worked so hard at, this thing that was supposed to be the truest thing ever imaginable had become a mindless habit. None of there had to think about what we were doing. The music began and our eyes were closed. That was what worship had become.

The 24/7 Vigil

by Steve Case on 09/14/2007
The 24-7 Prayer Movement started when a youth pastor in Britain couldn’t get kids to show up for a 30-minute prayer meeting; but when he challenged them to pray all day, every day for several months, kids came out of the woodwork to join in

The Lust for Worship

by Caleb R Hummel on 10/20/2007
People have a craving…a longing…a lust to have something they can look to for meaning. We search for something greater than ourselves to give us purpose. We are wired to find this meaning through authentic worship of God, yet too often we try to fulfill this craving with something other than true worship for God.

Starting from Scratch: Building a worship band for students

by Bobby Williams on 09/24/2007
Whether you are starting a band for your student gathering, church gathering, or if it's with adults or students, here's some tips that I've learned from my experience with student worship bands.

Tips from the Rhythm Section?

by David Hughes on 02/27/2008
Over the years I have begun to assemble the pieces in my head for what I feel works and doesn’t work in worship leading. I figured it was time to put these thoughts down on paper. I would love to pass along just a few things I feel strongly about...For now, here are just four of my somewhat organized, mostly jumbled drummer thoughts on worship leading.

Setting the Bar Higher: Student Worship

by Bobby Williams on 09/24/2007
We set the bar high when it comes to worship. We don't pull anything out that seems "too deep." We believe that if the bar is set high when it comes to worship, it may take some time, but the students will rise to that, thus learning how to better express themselves in worship.

The Worship God Seeks

by Jay Gulbin on 01/04/2008
How many of us would take our trash cans and empty them on the church altar on Sunday? None of us, right!! I mean if we were asked that question, we would laugh and maybe even get insulted that someone would even suggest the thought. Then why do we take our spiritual trashcans and our hollow words and empty those on God's alter every Sunday and Wednesday?

Graduation Warning

by Ben Shear on 06/09/2008
It started for me when I was a senior in High School. I had only recently become a Christian. Although I grew up in a church, it wasn't until my last few months in High School that I really began to live for Christ. During graduation time something strange happened. My church wanted to celebrate my graduation, but I wasn't interested, in fact, I was flat out against what they wanted.
