People have a craving…a longing…a lust to have something they can look to for meaning. We search for something greater than ourselves to give us purpose. We are wired to find this meaning through authentic worship of God, yet too often we try to fulfill this craving with something other than true worship for God.I would argue that this is because God has hardwired us to search for Him. Yet too often our wires get crossed and we look for someone or something else to fill that lust.
Amen! I praise God for this beautiful reminder that our worship to God is the life we are living. Hallelujah!

OffensiveEric, Thanks your distinction between praise and worship. I think that we typically view praise as a corporate act involving some kind of action on our part (prayer, singing, etc.), but the emphasis is on the corporate part. Praise falls under the umbrella of worship. I think worship would be better defined as "showing" God who He is to us. Whether through submissive posturing, prayer, fasting, serving the poor, singing, or a million other ways, it is what we do that demonstrates our worship and not what we say.

OffensiveMany great points were made in this Article. Growing up as a PK, I have heard many different and complicated definitions of praise and worship. However this one has stuck with me and I have stood my it since then. It is that Praise is expressed through telling others who God is to us, and worship is tell God who He is to us. This I believed can be the simplist for explanation for what praise and worship through the expression of music. However I have also heard that the greatest form of worship is Obedience. That is also very true.

OffensiveCaleb, are you using the word "worship" in the classic sense or in the "20 minutes of singing" time on Sunday morning sense? I can't quite decide.

OffensiveI like your thought process and your desire to teach the heart of worship to youth. Kids need to know that God is really all they need in life.

OffensiveWhile lust often has sexual connotations, it also refers to "ardent enthusiasm; zest; relish" or "an overwhelming desire or craving". Are these the words that describe many of our worship lives? Wouldn't it be beautiful if they were?
