The reality is, life hurts! And teenage life seems to be dramatized and amplified and kids need an audience and an ear. Every student in your youth group is a day away or one decision removed from the pain that’s hiding around the corner ready to invade their life. That’s why youth ministry is so important! He’s one of the last to leave the church because he’s picking up trash, stacking chairs, and helping us clean the room. I’m always excited to see him because he’s one of the few students who makes positive comments about my message.
Hey Sandra, I saw nobody replied to your comment yet... hopefully it's not too late. That's a hard problem to deal with, and there could be lots more going on below the surface. Would be glad to chat with you about it though--if you'd like, shoot me an email at nathaniel@calledtoyouthministry.com. Blessings!

Offensivedear friend, i actually have a question what do you do with a teenager that has the potential to be good leader because right now he's being a bad one getting other teenagers to intimidate new members of our church this has happened twice already i really dont know how to go about this what should be done?

OffensiveThank you for your forthright message. It is so true! It's so easy to just see any person from the perceived notion of who they seem to be and not know what is really happening behind the scenes. It takes a lot of courage to come out and be honest, and for that to happen there has to be trust and respect. Thank you for sticking in there for the youth you work with. They are blessed to have you working for Jesus to help them heal through it all. God bless, Joann (South Africa)

OffensiveThank you for sharing this awesome message! You used the right words and thoughts to sum up my feelings as youth pastor. It is so easy to think because you are at Saddleback that you have an over abundance of volunteers but you face the same challenges as I do! You have shown the one characteristic that I believe is mandatory for a successful youth worker, "transparency". Thank you for being real! I love you brother and will continue praying for all youth workers.

OffensiveWhat can I do with a youth that is Apathetic? I dont know if you understand but a mind set where they dont believe it until they see it. And just want nothing to do with God. Are attractive more what the enemy gives then the promises God gives them. I'm just fustrated!!

Offensivewow.. a very powerful message. I know a kid who sorta has teh same story... He plays guitar at church and he seems so happy. But we didn't know he had an addiction with smoking... but he's aight now.. my sister actually gave him a ring when he 'officially stopped' smoking. To remind him about that bondage that the Lord helped him overcome..

OffensiveThanks! I've been in church since i was a baby and went through a lot in my younger teenage years and you are completely right. i say younger because i still am :) i'm 18 and its really hard every day.. all of my experiences have helped me learn and now when working with my youth group any new kids that trust me with their info i can say "I know exactly how you feel and that there is a better purpose for them through everything"...
