all these events and asked ourselves an honest question: What fruit have these events had on our ministry? To be fair there was some measurable fruit but not nearly enough to warrant the time, money and energy it took to make these events a regular part of our ministry. The ministry I lead is a good example. Over the past five years or so, our ministry has continually grown and, as a result, our special events became more and more elaborate.
i like that idea. This summer we are using the once a week all day event, in the cheap way and easy way- gather for fun, bring your games, let's make up some and have fun. Blessings, Benji

OffensiveI like the cheap and easy concept. It's good b/c whether it's a large or small group, you will have more interaction with the kids. My husband and I are the youth pastors at our church and we have had planned many events. We have a very small youth group but the most enjoyable times have been when we have done something where it doesn't require months of planning. It's less stress big time and we always end up having the best time. I remember when we had a simple lock-in and we played tag in the dark and the pictures we got and the songs we sang and the mess we made is so memorable!! God can work in any situation...it's not the size or amount spent on the event, it's the awesome of the One who is coordinating it...GOD!

OffensiveI like the cheap and easy! When you do the Meet Us how do you keep track of the kids at a park we have about 100 middle schoolers attend out tuesday meeting and I would be scared to loose any at the park any suggestions?

OffensiveI like the "Cheap & Easy" concept - especially "Meet Us." I'd like to hear events other youth leaders did this summer/are planning for this fall. Thanx! Bill: eabcyouth@bvunet.net

OffensiveHey Kury - I definitely feel you on that. Even in smaller ministries the urge to go bigger and better on events is an all-too-real pressure. Maybe some of that comes from leaders/adults/parents who feel like big events are a sign of growth or health. But I love the "Meet Us" idea. We might try that here! Good stuff brother! - Tim
